There are a few things about automobile donation that you should keep in mind before signing over your title. Make sure the organization you're working with is a non-profit organization. If they aren't, you will not be able to deduct the donation from your taxes!

Ask the organization what percentage of the proceeds from the car's sale is going directly to the charity that you wish to support. There will always be administrative costs involved; just make sure that you're comfortable with the percentage going to the charity.
